Youth Music launches new funding model for England from 3rd November

Following the recent announcement that Youth Music, the UK's largest children's music charity, is making major changes to the way it funds music provision, it has now announced that music educators can apply for funding from 3 November 2011.

Youth Music will also be hosting five national launch events to present the new application procedures.  A South West event is scheduled for Monday November 7 at Exeter Racecourse.

The new Youth Music programme will consist of three key elements:

1.   a modular structure, with each module focusing on an issue or group of children and young people that have been identified as in need of support;

2.   an outcomes based approach to ensure that maximum impact is being achieved;

3.   the launch of a new online portal to support funding applications.

Youth Music will fund any non profit-making organisation more than one year old, that is committed to music-making activities for children and young people up to 18. For example:  

  • community music organisations
  • organisations that represent young people's music-making
  • education authorities' music services or music trusts
  • schools working in partnership
  • professional arts organisations
  • singing groups youth groups

Youth Music Network will also provide a platform for music education providers to share practice, collaborate, join in discussion and find out about a range of other services.
