The Department of Transport (DfT) has published the guidelines and application forms for the £560 million Local Sustainable Transport Fund.
The fund, which will be available over the next four years, will support a range of sustainable travel measures that promote:
- walking and cycling,

- improve road safety, and
- improve access and mobility for local communities.
The fund is open to any English local transport authority outside of London .
Eligible Authorities will be able to bid for small packages of under £5 million and larger packages of up to £50 million over the Fund period.
DfT aims to announce the outcome of these bids by the end of June and to issue to successful bidders a conditional offer letter setting out the terms and conditions for Fund support for the agreed package of work.
For those authorities who do not expect to have a fully developed package proposal finalised by 18th April 2011, expressions of interest need to be submitted by 6th June 2011.
