Community Buildings Grants Programme from Big Lottery Fund
Big Lottery Fund: Capital Grants for Community Buildings update
From early December 2010, the Big Lottery Fund will begin accepting applications from community and voluntary organisations and parish and town councils across England for capital grants of between £100,000 and £500,000 to develop multi-purpose community buildings.
The purpose of the fund is to enable existing buildings to be transformed for multi-purpose community use in rural or urban areas.
The buildings might be memorial halls, community centres, village halls etc.
A wide range of local people should be able to use the building once it has been redeveloped.
In the next few weeks fuller eligibility guidelines will be published, and once applications are accepted there will be an online suitability checker that should help pre-assess an application’s merit before even an outline proposal is sent in.
From that time applications will be assessed on a monthly basis, which the Big Lottery Fund hopes will mean that applicants will need not rush their proposals.
It is likely, however, that people will want to be nearer the front than the back of the queue.
The Big Lottery Fund will provide fuller information when the guidelines are published. In the meantime you can register your interest in the scheme by calling 0845 4 10 20 30 or visiting the website http://www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/
