29th September 2007 at Mendip Care & Repair
Notes from Somerset Fundraisers’ Group meeting held on 20/9/07 at Mendip Care & Repair in Shepton Mallet
Copies of a short review of the 100% Somerset event were passed out. Electronic copies are attached here although some of the photos are attached separately. Please let Lindy Booth know if you’d like a hard copy sent to you. (Some nice feedback was received from Di Monaghan at New Directions re. the Festival.)
Representatives from groups present reported on their funding successes and needs and all were agreed that most local VCS organisations are experiencing an extremely difficult time funding and fundraising-wise. Lots of help, knowledge and support was shared among participants
We were pleased to welcome Finbar Cullen of ResearchPlus who alerted us to a wide range of resources and techniques to find hidden wealth – particularly among trusts and individuals. A list of some of these is attached and Finbar can be contacted at: finbar@researchplus.co.uk.
Other useful information/sources of support/links/resourses that came up at the meeting included the following websites:
- goodwillgallery
- bitc/prohelp
- cranfieldtrust
- knowuk
- charitiesdirect
- caritasdata
- thefactary
The next SFG meeting is planned for Tuesday 11th December.
It will be an all day event, focussed on sustainable funding/social enterprise, shared with the Somerset Funding Advisors’ group. The main speaker will be Sue Morrish from Co-active and the day is being sponsored by Charity Bank. More news very soon!
